What We Make

Antique Phonograph Styles/Needles

John M. Dean Co. has deep roots in Northeastern Connecticut as one of the oldest pins manufacturers in America. Early in the Company’s history we began manufacturing phonograph needles. In 1937 John M. Dean Jr. (son of our Company’s founder, John M. Dean) patented a special stylus design to reduce wear on vinyl records. Today our Company manufactures hundreds of thousands of antique phonograph needles to continue supporting the hobby and to preserve a piece of history. We stock three different needle tones (soft, medium, and loud tone) ready for immediate shipment in bulk packaging. Blowgun Point

Blow Gun Darts/Spears

The art of blow gun making (according to current scientific mainstream thinking) dates back to the stone age. This primal method of hunting uses a tubular device loaded with a dart or spear pointed projectile, propelled by air pressure. The device is loaded by placing the dart or spear into the blowgun and applying air pressure to send the projectile to the intended target quickly, and with enough force to penetrate the target. In modern times this has grown to become a very mainstream sport for enthusiasts and hunters alike.

We believe our company to be one of the largest producers of standard sized blowgun darts and spears on the market, serving multiple customers who complete these blowgun dart and spear assemblies before selling the packaged product to the public. Because of the equipment designed, built, and still in use today at John M. Dean Co. we can provide any custom variation blowgun dart, spear, or broadpoint you can think of.
